Access Keys
Main Site Access Keys
The University main site contains a number of keyboard shortcuts, called "access keys," to assist in navigating the site. Each Internet browser has a different method of accessing these keys:
- Internet Explorer on a PC: While holding down the "Alt" key, press the access key. Then press "Enter."
- Firefox on a PC: Press the access key while holding down "Alt" and "Shift."
- Firefox and Safari on Apple or Linux: Press the access key while holding down "Ctrl."
- Opera: Press "Shift" and "Esc," followed by the access key.
- Konqueror: Press and release the "Ctrl" key, then press the access key.
- “1” navigates to the University homepage
- “2” skips the cursor to the content section
- “4” sets the cursor in the "Search" field
- “9” navigates to the main site feedback form
- “0” navigates to this list of access keys
When there is a second search form in the content area of a page, as on the A-Z lists and News pages, "5" sets the cursor in the search field.
Multimedia Access Keys
While the a video is playing on the University homepage or multimedia page, the following keys will affect playback:
- "Spacebar" pauses and restarts playback
- "Right arrow" jumps forward five seconds
- "Left arrow" rewinds five seconds
- "m" mutes the video
- "c" toggles the closed captioning
- "f" enters full screen mode
- "Esc" exits full screen mode
