Offices Close But Classes Continue as Hurricane Nears

Due to worsening road conditions associated with the severe weather caused by Hurricane Floyd, University offices closed at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, September 16, and non-essential staff are being sent home.

However, the academic schedule remains in place and classes will be expected to meet. Individual faculty members have discretion to cancel their classes for the remainder of the day if personal circumstances require them to do so.

Critical and necessary staff must remain at their jobs. Those with alternate work schedules should call their supervisors to determine appropriate arrival and departure times.

The Registrar's Web site is expected to go down over night. Course information and all course scheduling information will be unavailable via the Web until tomorrow morning, conditions permitting.

A normal schedule is anticipated for tomorrow, Friday, September 17.

Staff can check the University's emergency weather line at 258-7669 (258-SNOW) for updates.
