President Harold T. Shapiro and Vivian Shapiro will host an informal reception to greet President-elect Shirley M. Caldwell Tilghman on the south lawn of the Frist Campus Center on Sunday, May 6, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
In a message to members of the Princeton community, Shapiro said, "I have known Shirley as a scientist whose research and scholarship are internationally recognized, as a distinguished teacher on campus, as an advocate for women and minorities as scientists, and as a highly respected national leader in areas of central concern to higher education and the world of scholarship. Most of all, however, I value knowing her as a friend."
"I look forward with enormous enthusiasm and anticipation to her leadership as Princeton's next President. I know all of you will join me in doing whatever we can to ensure both a successful transition and continued forward progress for Princeton," Shapiro continued.
The reception is open to all. For the official announcement regarding Princeton's 19th President, please see Tilghman .
