The event includes an essay contest for students in grades seven through 12 and a poster contest for students in grades four through six. Both contests are aimed at expressing the importance of increased understanding and respect among all races. Contest entries are due by Dec. 17.

A ceremony on Jan. 21 will feature contest winners and keynote speaker New Jersey Secretary of State DeForest B. Soaries. A choir from the First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens in Somerset will provide musical entertainment.
