DiFerdinando speaks on New Jersey's response to terrorism, Nov. 29

DiFerdinando Jr., acting health and senior services commissioner for the state of New Jersey, will present a public lecture titled "Policy Implications of New Jersey's Response to Sept. 11 and Anthrax" at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, in Dodds Auditorium, Robertson Hall.

DiFerdinando has executive responsibility for the 2,000-person New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services. He was deputy commissioner of public health services for the Department of Health and Senior Services before his appointment as acting health and senior services commissioner. He supervised the divisions of AIDS prevention and control, addiction services and family health services, along with the Office of Emergency Medical Services. In addition, he is the department's representative on the State Board of Medical Examiners.

Before joining the department in March 2000, DiFerdinando was director of the Division of Family and Local Health for the New York State Department of Health. In this position, he managed Maternal and Child Health Services for the State of New York and was the liaison with all of the state's local public health departments.
