Non-essential personnel to be dismissed at noon Tuesday, June 4

All non-essential University personnel will be dismissed at noon Tuesday, June 4.

This early dismissal is an experiment necessitated by Commencement activities and the current high level of construction on campus. It is intended to help alleviate the unusual traffic patterns created by the construction.

"Last year on Commencement day, there were huge traffic tie-ups as departing parents and students were trying to leave campus at the same time as employees, leading to hours spent by many in the area of Elm Drive, the New South garage and public roads surrounding the campus," according to a memo issued by Dan Scheiner, acting vice president for human resources, and Jerry Witsil, director of public safety.

Those with questions about essential and non-essential personnel should contact their human resources region manager .
