Black History Month Committee presents panel discussion, Feb. 9

The University's Black History Month Committee will present a panel discussion of "Reflections on Responsibility in the African-American Community" on Saturday, Feb. 9. The event begins at 1 p.m. in the Third World Center.

The panelists include Princeton alumni Lawrence Hamm '78, Kevin Hudson '97 and Karen Jackson Weaver '94.

Hamm was the leader of a group of activists who took over Nassau Hall to force the University to divest its holdings in South Africa. He is the chairman of the Million Man March Committee of New Jersey. He went on a fast to pressure the New Jersey state government to equitably distribute education funding to black school districts.

Hudson, who is active in alumni affairs and the Association of Black Princeton Alumni, works with Sponsors for Educational Opportunity. Weaver is a doctoral student in history at Columbia University.
