Lisa Beamer to speak, March 26
Posted March 25, 2002; 03:54 p.m.
Lisa Beamer will discuss how her religious faith has helped her cope with the death of her husband, Todd Beamer, as he acted to foil terrorist plans on United Flight 93 on Sept. 11. The talk will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, in McCosh 10.
The heroic actions of Todd Beamer and other passengers led to the plane's crash in a Pennsylvania field, thereby saving an untold number of lives on the ground. While using an onboard phone to call the FBI, the 32-year-old account manager with Oracle Corp. was overheard saying "Let's roll." Beamer will talk about how her husband's words were not a call to arms as much as they were a call to sacrifice.
Beamer has given speeches across the country on the events of Sept. 11 and how she has maintained a steadfast faith in and a dependence on God. An area resident, Beamer recently gave birth to her third child at Princeton Medical Center.
This event is sponsored by Agape Christian Fellowship .
