'The Ethicist' author to lead forum, Oct. 9

Randy Cohen, who writes "The Ethicist" column for The New York Times Magazine, will lead the first in a planned series of ethics forums in the five residential colleges called "Do the Right Thing."
Cohen will lead the first session at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, in the common room of Madison Hall, Rockefeller College. The forums are open to the entire University community.
Cohen's column in the Times Magazine is syndicated in 48 newspapers throughout the United States and Canada. A former Emmy-winning writer for David Letterman, Cohen also is the ethics columnist for the Times of London and a regular contributor to National Public Radio.
Students are encouraged to bring questions to the forums or submit them beforehand to Paul Raushenbush , associate dean of religious life. The "Do the Right Thing" series is sponsored by the Office of Religious Life and the residential colleges.
Peter Singer, the Ira DeCamp Professor of Bioethics in the University Center for Human Values, will be the guest ethicist at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, in the common room of Wilcox Hall, Wilson College.
