Graduate student named to Supreme Court clerkship

Christina Burnett, a doctoral candidate in Princeton's Department of History , has been appointed as a law clerk to Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer. Her one-year appointment will begin in July 2004.
Burnett graduated from Princeton in 1990 with a bachelor's degree in history and a certificate in Latin American studies. She earned a master's degree in political thought and intellectual history from Cambridge University in 1995 and a law degree from Yale Law School in 1998.
Burnett enrolled in the graduate history program at Princeton in the 2002-03 academic year. Her research is on American legal history, primarily focusing on the 19th century.
In 2001-02, Burnett was a visiting scholar in Princeton's Program in Law and Public Affairs . A year earlier, she served as a law clerk for Judge Jose Cabranes of the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Haven, Conn.
Burnett co-edited "Foreign in a Domestic Sense: Puerto Rico, American Expansion and the Constitution," a collection of essays published in 2001 by Duke University Press.
