International Center seeks volunteers through Sept. 11 open house

an effort to recruit new volunteers, the Friends of the International Center will hold a "Meet the Friends" open house from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, in 243 Frist Campus Center. Refreshments will be served.
The friends, a support group affiliated with the International Center, provides opportunities for international graduate students, visiting scholars and their spouses to make a better adjustment to life in America. Volunteer tutors and hosts help the visitors practice English conversational skills and gain a greater understanding of cultural similarities and differences. By offering chances for socializing and friendship, the friends build a bridge of understanding between cultures.
