Aung-Thwin to discuss conditions in Burma, Oct. 16

Aung-Thwin, director of the Burma Project/Southeast Asia Initiative, will give a lecture titled "Burma: Four Decades of Dictatorship" at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, in 1 Robertson Hall.

The initiative is a project of the Open Society Institute to increase international awareness of the conditions in Burma. Aung-Thwin will discuss the challenges of opposing one of the world's longest standing military dictatorships. She also will explore the recent detention of Aung San Suu Kyi, activist and Nobel Peace laureate.
