Forum explores African-American gender gap, Nov. 17

A forum exploring the widening divide between African-American men and women is set for 4:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, in 2 Robertson Hall. Panelists will discuss issues raised in the book "Gender Talk: The Struggle for Women's Equality in African-American Communities," written by Beverly Guy-Sheftall and Johnnetta Cole.

Speakers will be R. Marie Griffith , an associate professor of religion at Princeton; Nell Irvin Painter , the Edwards Professor of American History at Princeton; and Marlon Ross, professor of English at the University of Virginia.

The authors of "Gender Talk" will be respond to the speakers. Guy-Sheftall is the Anna J. Cooper Professor of English and director of the Women's Research and Resource Center at Spelman College. Cole is the president of Bennett College and former president of Spelman.
