Festival celebrating Czech culture scheduled, Nov. 17-21

Mirjam Fried, assistant professor of Slavic languages and literatures, and students from her spring 2002 freshman seminar, "Prague, Vienna and Cultures of Central Europe," will present a five-day event celebrating Czech culture, Nov. 17-21.
Festivities will begin with an introduction to the Czech Republic followed by a video documentary of the seminar's trip there at 9:15 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, in 302 Frist. Czech food will be served.
A series of Czech films will be shown throughout the week. Here is the schedule:
- "Rebelove" by Filip Renc at 10 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, in Rockefeller-Mathey Theater.
- "Daisies" by Vera Chytilova and "Fireman's Ball" by Milos Forman at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, in McCosh 46.
- "Kolya" by Jan Sverak at 10 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, in McCosh 46.
- "Divided We Fall" by Jan Hrebejk at 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, in McCosh 46.
A table with Czech cultural items and information will be on display all week on the 100-level of the Frist Campus Center.
