University Orchestra opens season, Oct. 17-18

The Princeton University Orchestra , under the direction of guest conductor David Arrivee, will open its 2003-04 season with concerts at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 17-18, in Richardson Auditorium, Alexander Hall.
Arrivee, a member of Princeton's class of 1992, served as the assistant conductor for the Boston University Symphony Orchestra and the Marsh Chapel Choir of Boston University, where he earned a master's degree. He is currently a doctoral candidate at Northwestern University.
The performances will include works by Bedrich Smetana, Edvard Grieg and Johannes Brahms. Senior Felice Kuan, a pianist and co-winner of the 2003 University concerto competition, will be the soloist for the Grieg piece.
