Simmons named engineering fellow

Robert Simmons, an engineer at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory , has been elected a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers International. The society recognized Simmons for his exceptional engineering achievements and contributions to the profession.
Simmons, currently the systems engineering support manager for the National Compact Stellarator Experiment, joined the plasma physics laboratory in 1989 as a project control manager for the advanced projects department. He has been actively involved in the operation and management of complex engineering projects and the development and implementation of project management systems for more than 35 years.
The Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, funded by the Department of Energy and managed by the University, is a collaborative national center for science and innovation leading to an attractive fusion energy source.
