Baumol honored by Swedish business groups

Two groups that promote business development in Sweden have honored Emeritus Professor William Baumol with their annual International Award for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Research.
The Swedish Foundation for Small Business Research and the Swedish Business Development Agency recognized Baumol for his longstanding contributions to research in small business and entrepreneurship. The groups cited Baumol's most recent contribution, "The Free-Market Innovation Machine: Analyzing the Growth Miracle of Capitalism," a book published last year by Princeton University Press.
Baumol is the Joseph Douglas Green, 1895, Professor of Economics , Emeritus, and senior research economist at Princeton. He joined the Princeton faculty in 1949. Baumol also is a professor of economics and director of the C.V. Starr Center for Applied Economics at New York University.
