Public diplomacy and Islamic world is talk topic, Nov. 15

A lecture titled "America in the World: U.S. Public Diplomacy and the Islamic World" is set for 4:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, in 16 Robertson Hall.

Speaking will be Mary Catherine Andrews, special assistant to the president and director of the White House Office of Global Communications.

Established in January 2003 by President George W. Bush, the office was created to coordinate, strategically develop and disseminate communication programs on a global basis that are consistent, truthful and clear in their depiction of Americans and U.S. government policies. With the Bush administration since 2001, Andrews has been in her post since January 2004 and previously was on the staff at the Aspen Institute.

Her lecture is sponsored by the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs .
