Panel to discuss grade inflation proposals, April 15

A panel discussion on the recently announced proposals to curb grade inflation at Princeton will be held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 15, in the Whig Hall Senate Chamber.

The panel will include Nancy Malkiel, dean of the college; Matt Margolin, president of the Undergraduate Student Government; and Erhan Cinlar, chair of the Department of Operations Research and Financial Engineering. Audience members will be allowed to ask questions.

The proposals , which will be presented to Princeton's faculty at its April 26 meeting, are intended to establish a common grading standard across the University of less than 35 percent A's for undergraduate courses and less than 55 percent A's for independent work. They also seek to provide clear guidelines for faculty and students about the meaning of letter grades.

The event is sponsored by the American Whig-Cliosophic Society .
