Workshop set on healing after rape, April 2

A multimedia performance, "A Long Walk Home: A Story of a Rape Survivor," will be presented at 4 p.m. Friday, April 2, in the East Room of Murray-Dodge Hall.
Sisters Scheherazade and Salamishah Tillet founded A Long Walk Home Inc. in 2000 to help people heal from their experiences of rape. The workshop combines art therapy, expressive therapy and social documentary theory to help victims -- and secondary victims such as partners, family members, friends -- to deal with the anger, guilt and hurt they feel.
Scheherazade Tillet is an art therapist at the YWCA Chicago Rape Crisis Center and a freelance photographer. Salamishah Tillet is a doctoral candidate in American studies at Harvard University.
The event is sponsored by the Sexual Harassment/Assault Advising, Resources and Education Office of University Health Services and the women's ice hockey team.
