Jazz Ensemble to perform with University Orchestra, Feb. 28

The Princeton University Concert Jazz Ensemble and University Orchestra, conducted by Anthony D.J. Branker, will collaborate to present the program "Jazz Meets the Symphony Orchestra" at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, in Richardson Auditorium, Alexander Hall.
The event will feature a rare performance of Duke Ellington's piano concerto "New World A Comin'" and also will spotlight the musical contributions of four graduates of Princeton's undergraduate program in music, including: "New World A Comin'" piano soloist Christine McLeavey, a 2001 graduate who is presently pursuing graduate studies in performance at the Juilliard School of Music; Princeton University voice instructor Martha Elliott, a member of the class of 1982, who will be featured in a special arrangement of the classic, "When Sunny Gets Blue," written for orchestra by Todd Beaney, a 1980 graduate and former pianist with the University Jazz Program; and conductor Branker, a member of the class of 1980.
The event is sponsored by the Princeton University Jazz Program . Tickets are $15 for general admission and $5 for students. They may be purchased at the Richardson Auditorium ticket office, (609) 258-5000.
