Deaton to discuss poverty in India, Oct. 7

Princeton scholar Angus Deaton will discuss "Poverty in India: What Really Happened in the 1990s?" at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, in 2 Robertson Hall.

Deaton is the Dwight Eisenhower Professor of International Affairs and professor of economics and international affairs in the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. He has written extensively on health, economic development, the measurement of poverty and the analysis of household behavior.

Deaton will address the controversy over the estimation of poverty in India and discuss its implications in the context of global poverty.
