Steve Waldman, editor-in-chief of Beliefnet.com, and Princeton Professor of Religion Jeffrey Stout will deliver lectures as part of a conference of collegiate interfaith councils hosted by Princeton's Religious Life Council.
Waldman, who founded the multi-faith Web site, will speak on religious plurality on American life at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, in the Whig Hall Senate Chamber. Stout will discuss religion in the public square at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, in the Friend Center convocation room. Both talks are open to the public.
The lectures are part of a Feb. 17-20 conference called "Coming Together: A Venture Across Religious Boundaries," which will include leaders of student interfaith councils from colleges and universities nationwide. The conference will provide an opportunity to discuss how interfaith councils are formed, the roles they have on campuses and ideas for meaningful programs.
