EQuad Café grand opening is Sept. 21

The School of Engineering and Applied Science
will host a grand opening from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, to
introduce the campus community to the new EQuad Café, which is now open
for business.
The café, located in the newly renovated lobby of the Engineering
Quadrangle on Olden St., serves hot and cold breakfasts and lunches,
salads, soups, snacks and beverages. It is managed by Princeton University Services and Restaurant Associates.
The grand opening will feature several food specials and giveaways,
including drawings for an "iPod nano" MP3 player and a free brunch in
Philadelphia. Patrons can enter the drawings after making a purchase at
the café.
The engineering school will give away the iPod at a brief event at
12:15 p.m., during which engineering dean Maria Klawe will speak.
Restaurant Associates, which also operates Prospect House, Palmer House
and the Genomics Café, will hold a separate drawing for a free brunch
for two at its restaurant at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
In addition to the drawings, customers on Wednesday will receive free
key chains and cards for discounted meals at Restaurant Associates
facilities while supplies last. The café will serve free coffee from 8
a.m. to noon, free cookies from noon to 2:30 p.m. and free bottled
water from 2:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Performing on piano will be Zafer
Barutcuoglu, a graduate student in computer science, from 10:30 a.m. to
noon and Bill Bausmith, associate director of design and construction
in the facilities department, from noon to 1:30 p.m.
An event on Wednesday, Sept. 28, also will celebrate the café's
opening. From noon to 1:30 p.m., Brian Driscoll, executive chef at
Prospect House, will prepare his signature crab cakes, which will be
available for $9.95.
