The third edition of the Princeton Documentary Festival, which highlights Latin American and Spanish films, is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 26, through Friday, Oct. 7, in various locations around campus.
This year's theme, "Private Movies," focuses on the use of home movies or personal materials in the creation of documentary films. The selected films explore the public significance of private records; the ways in which documentaries address notions of "private life" and "home"; and how filmmakers transform their private obsessions into compelling public statements. These issues will be addressed through public screenings, classroom discussions and interactions with filmmakers.
A complete schedule is available online.
The event is sponsored by the Department of Spanish and Portuguese Languages and Cultures, Program in Latin American Studies, Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies and University Center for Human Values.
