MLK student contest entries due Nov. 18

The deadline for submissions for Princeton University's annual poster, essay and video contests honoring Martin Luther King Jr. is Friday, Nov. 18.

New Jersey students in grades 4-12 are invited to submit entries. Anyone with questions should contact Elizabeth Patten or call (609) 258-3601.

The University's 2006 King Day ceremony will take place Monday, Jan. 16, in Richardson Auditorium, Alexander Hall. Contest winners and their families are encouraged to attend the celebration, where winners will be recognized for their achievements.

This year's contest theme is "the power of the vote." Students are asked to express themselves in a way that could influence at least one person of voting age who does not currently vote to do so, while incorporating messages or themes from King's work.

Submission guidelines and rules for the essay and video contests and the poster contest are available online.
