U.N. peacekeeping chief to speak, Nov. 30

The head of the United Nations' peacekeeping operations will discuss key issues in global peacekeeping efforts at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, in 1 Robertson Hall.

The lecture by Jean-Marie Guehenno, the U.N. undersecretary-general for peacekeeping operations, is sponsored by the Program in Contemporary European Politics and Society.

Guehenno was appointed to his post in 2000 by U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan. He has experience in diplomacy, defense and international relations, including many years of service in the French ministry of foreign affairs.
