Inaugural events planned on campus, Jan. 17

On Tuesday, Jan. 17, two New Jersey inaugural events for Gov.-elect
Jon Corzine will take place at the University that will affect traffic
around the campus.
An interfaith prayer service will take place from 8 to 9:30 a.m. in the
University Chapel and an inaugural ball is scheduled for 7 to 11 p.m.
in Jadwin Gymnasium. The events are not open to the general public.
Chapel Drive will be open on Tuesday morning only to University
shuttles and to busses bringing guests to the service. Princeton is not
providing parking for the prayer service in University lots, but
metered parking spaces along William Street will be reserved for busses
and special guests at the service.
Beginning at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, traffic patterns around the campus will
be altered to accommodate the 5,000 guests expected for the ball. Most
will park in lots off Scudders Mill Road in Plainsboro and be bussed to
Jadwin Gym. One lane of traffic coming toward Princeton on Route 1 from
Scudders Mill Road to Harrison Street and one lane of traffic on
Faculty Road from Harrison Street to the gym will be closed.
University employees will be able to leave the campus via the regular
routes, including on Faculty Road toward Harrison Street and Route 1;
however, traffic in that area is expected to be heavy. Traffic control
officers will be stationed at major affected intersections to
facilitate traffic flow.
Five University lots will be used for inaugural ball parking beginning
at 5:30 p.m.: lots 4 and 25 north of Ivy Lane near Princeton
Stadium; lot 15 near the armory; lot 20 south of the Icahn Laboratory;
and lot 21 east of Jadwin Gym.
