Documentary screened on rural prisons, March 2

A pre-premiere screening of “Up the Ridge: A U.S. Prison Story,” a new documentary on urban convicts in rural prisons, is set for 4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 2, in 2 Robertson Hall.
Produced by the Appalachian arts and cultural organization Appalshop,
the film explores prison life, government policy and human rights, and
the social consequences of confining large numbers of inner-city
convicts in remote rural areas. The screening will be followed by a
discussion with producers Amelia Kirby and Nick Szubela.
The event is part of the Woodrow Wilson School Rural Policy Speaker Series, created this year to foster sustained dialogue about domestic rural policy.
