Vehicle gate to close three hours earlier
Posted March 22, 2006; 05:18 p.m.
Beginning Monday, March 27, Princeton University's Nassau Street vehicular access gate will close three hours earlier to traffic during the week, remaining open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Department of Public Safety permanently revised the access schedule based on a motor-vehicle traffic study that showed that, while the gate was previously open until 11 p.m., there was little travel on and off campus after 8 p.m. The Nassau Street gate will continue to be closed all day Saturday and Sunday, except during Reunions and Alumni Day. Motorists will continue to be allowed to enter campus through the Elm Drive entrance at the south end of campus, which will still be open 24 hours every day.
The Department of Public Safety will work closely with Richardson Auditorium to provide staffing at the Nassau Street gate on week nights when there are events at Richardson. Also, access will always be open to emergency vehicles.
