Canada's central bank chief to speak, March 30

David Dodge, the head of Canada's central bank, will present a
lecture on "The Evolving International Monetary Order and the Need for
an Evolving IMF" at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 30, in 16 Robertson Hall.
Dodge has been governor of the Bank of Canada since February 2001. He
had served as Canada's deputy of minister of health from 1998 until his
appointment as the country's top central banker. Dodge was deputy
finance minister from 1992 to 1997.
As governor of the Bank of Canada, Dodge has been active in promoting
greater economic integration between Canada, Mexico and the United
States under the North American Free Trade Agreement.
Dodge earned a Ph.D. in economics from Princeton in 1972. In addition
to his government service, he has been a faculty member or visiting
scholar at Queen's University, Johns Hopkins University, the University
of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University.
