Posted March 23, 2006; 09:49 p.m.
Scholars and policy-makers from Chile, the Netherlands and the
United States will examine their countries' school voucher programs
during a conference set for Friday and Saturday, March 31-April 1, in
219 Burr Hall. Conference events will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
March 31 and 9 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. April 1.
The event, titled "Educational Choice in Comparative Perspective: The
Experience of Chile, the Netherlands and the United States," will focus
on a topic of intense interest among U.S. policy-makers during the past
decade. Voucher programs have been implemented on a limited basis in
the United States, while Chile and the Netherlands both have
longstanding arrangements involving publicly funded private education.
The conference aims to help representatives from these countries learn
from each other's experiences.
It is sponsored by the Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies.
