Author discusses Princeton history, April 28

James Axtell, author of a new history of Princeton University, will discuss the history of the University and of higher education at 12:30 p.m. Friday, April 28, in 105 Chancellor Green.

Axtell, the Kenan Professor of Humanities at the College of William and Mary, is the author of "The Making of Princeton University: From Woodrow Wilson to the Present," which was published this year by Princeton University Press. His other books include "The Pleasures of Academe: A Celebration and Defense of Higher Education" (1998).

Axtell's talk is sponsored by the Modern America Workshop, the Department of History, the Davis Center for Historical Studies, the Program in African American Studies and the Graduate School. Lunch will be provided.
