Thai security expert to lecture, May 3

Thai scholar Panitan Wattanayagorn will discuss security issues in
Thailand and Southeast Asia at 3 p.m. (note time change from 4:30 p.m.) Wednesday, May 3, in 16
Robertson Hall.
His talk is titled "Islam and Conflict in Southeast Asia: Terrorism in Southern Thailand."
Wattanayagorn is a professor of international relations at
Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok. He currently is a visiting
professor at the Paul Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at
Johns Hopkins University.
Wattanayagorn advises several defense agencies in Thailand, including
the Royal Thai Army, and has written widely on foreign, security and
defense policies of Thailand and Southeast Asian countries.
The lecture is sponsored by the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.
