New TigerCard online store offers more reliable service, options

The University's TigerCard Office is introducing a new, more convenient way for users to manage their points accounts to purchase food and library services on campus.

The TigerCard, the University's ID card for students, faculty, staff and affiliates, has a magnetic strip that allows it to serve as a debit card for various campus vendors, ranging from residential college dining halls to restaurants and stores in the Frist Campus Center to the libraries' photocopiers.

The TigerCard Office has established a new user-friendly "online store" for managing the points that will be more dependable than the former Web site. Both previous and new users will need to register with the online store before they will be able to access their accounts.

"JSA Technologies, the new vendor we have selected, has a proven track record of 99.5 percent uptime with its sites," said Dave Tierney, associate director of the TigerCard Office. "We expect to provide much more reliable service and a number of new options for users."

The new online store is located at To establish an account, click on the "I'm New Here" link in the upper right corner of the page. Those who have bookmarked the old site in their browsers will need to create a new bookmark.

In addition to reliability, a key improvement includes allowing users to view a transaction history for up to six months rather than three days, which is the current limit. The new site also will allow users to: view meal plan account balances online; have a low-balance warning sent by e-mail to themselves or others, such as parents; and set up recurring deposits for a designated amount from a credit card when the balance gets too low.

"We've made these changes in response to feedback from our users," Tierney said. "We're encouraging them to register on the new site and experience the improvements. We're also encouraging those who haven't before purchased points to try this convenient, cashless way to make purchases on campus."

The University currently offers two kinds of points for the TigerCards: dining points and Paw points. Both are available through the online store.

All dining and Paw points can be used at: the Frist Gallery, Café Vivian, the Healthy Eating Lab and the C-Store, all in the Frist Campus Center; the New South, Woodrow Wilson and Chancellor Green Cafés; and concession stands at Princeton Stadium and Jadwin Gymnasium. Faculty and staff dining points and Paw points can be used at E-Quad and Genomics Cafés and at the Garden and Tap Rooms at Prospect House. Student dining points can be used in residential college dining halls. Paw points can be used in the libraries for photocopying services. In the near future, the two point systems will be merged to simplify the process, according to Tierney.
