UPDATE: CANCELLED - The College Democrats have cancelled this event because of scheduling conflicts.
U.S. Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez will give a policy speech on the Iraq War Friday, Oct. 6, at an event sponsored by the Princeton College Democrats. The lecture will be at 5 p.m. in McCormick 101, with doors opening at 4:15 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Menendez, who was appointed to the U.S. Senate in 2005 to fill the seat vacated by New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine, is seeking re-election to the Senate this fall. From 1992 until taking Senate office in 2006, Menendez represented New Jersey residents in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he rose to become the third-highest ranking Democrat. During his time in the House, Menendez served as vice chairman of the Democratic Caucus and led key task forces on education and homeland security. When elected by his colleagues in 2002 as chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, Menendez became the highest-ranking Hispanic in congressional history.
