A lecture focusing on "Juvenile Justice Policy in the 21st Century"
is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, in 16 Robertson Hall.
The talk will be presented by Laurence Steinberg, the Laura Carnell
Professor of Psychology at Temple University, and Donald DeVore,
director of juvenile services at the Connecticut Department of Children
and Families.
Steinberg is a nationally recognized expert on psychological
development during adolescence. His research has focused on a range of
topics in the study of contemporary adolescence, including
parent-adolescent relationships, adolescent employment, high school
reform and juvenile justice.
DeVore is responsible for Connecticut's juvenile justice programs,
girls' and boys' services and the Connecticut Juvenile Training School.
He previously served as a federally appointed court monitor in
Connecticut and was widely credited with upgrading three juvenile
detention centers.
The talk is sponsored by the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs and the Center for Research and Child Wellbeing as part of its "Researcher Meets Policy-Maker" series.
