The chief political correspondent for The Jerusalem Post will speak on "Israel in the Eyes of Foreign Media" at 4:30 p.m. Monday, March 26, in 101 McCormick Hall.
Gil Hoffman has interviewed Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, former prime ministers Sharon, Peres, Barak and Netanyahu and many major figures across the Israeli political spectrum. He is a regular analyst on CNN, the BBC and other foreign news outlets.
Hoffman's frequent television appearances and popular column provide a behind-the-scenes look at the intrigue and humor in the Israeli political arena. He also frequently covers diplomatic issues, traveling with the prime minister and reporting on efforts to achieve Mideast peace and other key international developments.
Hoffman will discuss the way foreign media representatives cover domestic and foreign policy issues in Israel and the way such coverage affects Americans' understanding of contemporary Middle East politics, culture and society.
The lecture is sponsored by the Princeton Israel Public Affairs Committee, the Center for Jewish Life, the Department and Program in Near Eastern Studies, the Program in Judaic Studies and the Humanities Council.
