Web Stories co-founder to discuss 'Women and Work,' Oct. 17 co-founder Joan Blades will give a talk on "Women and Work" at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, in 16 Robertson Hall.

In addition to her work with the popular political action website, Blades is co-founder and president of, an effort to mobilize mothers who share a concern about the need to build a more family-friendly America. Started in May 2006, the group has more than 120,000 members.

Blades also is a software industry veteran, having co-founded a leading entertainment software company, Berkeley Systems, and an Internet education startup, Cavort Learning Systems.

The Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs and the Gender and Policy Network are sponsoring the lecture.
