Musica Alta, the early music ensemble of Princeton University sponsored by the music department, will perform at 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, in Taplin Auditorium, Fine Hall.
The free recital will feature John Burkhalter III, recorder; Sean Friar, Lainie Fefferman, Katherine Hope-Kennedy and Sarah Paden, vocalists; Branson Stephens, cello; and Director Nicholas Lockey, portative organ/viola.
The ensemble provides a forum for the performance of early music and the exploration of performance practice issues. The ensemble utilizes the music department's collection of period instruments, which currently includes consorts of viols, recorders and krummhorns, as well as a lute, portative organ, shawm, sackbut and harpsichord.
