Glee Club to perform Mendelssohn's 'Elijah'
Singing the title role of Elijah will be baritone Grant Youngblood, who has sung with the San Francisco Opera, New York City Opera, Washington Opera, Florida Grand Opera and L'Opéra de Montréal. Other soloists performing will be Christina Pier, soprano; Mary Nessinger mezzo-soprano; and Jason Collins, tenor. Several Princeton students will sing the smaller dramatic roles in the oratorio.
The University Glee Club performs an oratorio each spring with a professional orchestra and soloists as a tribute to conductor emeritus Walter Nollner, who led the ensemble from 1958 to 1992. The Glee Club was founded in 1874, and is the oldest chorus at the University, performing six concerts each academic year. Undergraduate and graduate students across many disciplines participate in the ensemble. The performance will be conducted by Richard Tang Yuk, a senior lecturer in the Department of Music.
Tickets range from $17 to $38. They are available online through University Ticketing or by calling or (609) 258-9220.
