Princeton, Harvard glee clubs to perform
Posted October 19, 2008; 08:18 p.m.
The Princeton and Harvard glee clubs will perform their traditional pre-football game concert at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, in Richardson Auditorium, Alexander Hall.
The concert will feature a mixture of choral music and football rally songs in preparation for Saturday's 1 p.m. game at Princeton Stadium.
Jameson Marvin, director of choral activities at Harvard, will conduct the Harvard Glee Club, which has maintained its tradition as an all-male choral ensemble. The Princeton Glee Club became a mixed-voice choir with the advent of coeducation at Princeton. Richard Tang Yuk, director of choral music at Princeton, will conduct both the larger Glee Club and smaller Princeton Chamber Chorus.
The glee clubs of Harvard and Princeton are among the oldest collegiate choruses in the country. These joint fall concerts have been taking place since the early 1900s.
The varied program will include works by Guerrero, Victoria, Parsons and Brahms, music of Canadian composer Kathleen Skinner and many others.
Tickets to the concert are $20 and are available at the Frist Campus Center ticket office, online through University Ticketing or by calling (609) 258-9220.
