Sustainability videos, film to be screened

Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, 7 p.m. 101 McCormick Hall

The screening of two student-produced videos on sustainability as well as the feature-length film, "Everything's Cool," and discussion with the director is set for 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, in 101 McCormick Hall.

This past summer, seven Princeton students participated in "Communicating Sustainability: Video and Radio Training." Through the intensive four-week program, the students explored sustainability issues such as green roofs and food waste through the creation of videos and podcasts.

Two of their videos will be shown: "It's Greener On Top: A Look at Green Roofs" directed by students Jessica Hsu, Amy Seymour and Alex Renaud; and "The Search for the Schmoo: Adventures in Food Waste" directed by students Dawn Zhao, Kristen Davila, Doug Sprankling and Alan Yang.

In addition, celebrated filmmaker Judith Helfand will discuss "Everything's Cool" and answer questions from the audience following the presentation. The 2007 film, directed by Helfand and Daniel Gold, traces the politics of global warming.

The event is sponsored by the Office of Sustainability and the Student Environmental Communication Network with support from the High Meadows Fund.
