Senior thesis production of 'Othello' set

Friday and Saturday, Feb. 6-7, 2009, and Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 12-14, 2009, 8 p.m. Matthews Acting Studio, 185 Nassau St.

A student performance of Shakespeare’s "Othello," directed by Jackie Bello as a senior thesis production for the Program in Theater and Dance in the Lewis Center for the Arts, opens Friday, Feb. 6.

"Othello" will be performed at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Feb. 6-7, and Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 12-14, in the Matthews Acting Studio, 185 Nassau St.

Bello said she chose "Othello" for her senior thesis production because she has been fascinated by the play since she was 10 years old and heard her godmother, a professor at Georgetown University, give a lecture about the play to her students. Bello was visiting Georgetown that day for "Take Our Daughters To Work Day."

Bello has been involved in more than 30 theater productions at Princeton in the Program in Theater and Dance, Theatre Intime, the Princeton Shakespeare Company, Princeton Summer Theater and a children's theater troupe she started last year called the TIKI! Players.

"Othello" features senior Kelvin Dinkins as Othello and junior Laura Hankin as Desdemona. For tickets, visit University Ticketing or call (609) 258-9220.
