French philosophy scholar to deliver Gauss Seminars

Eleanor Kaufman, a scholar of 20th-century French philosophy at the University of California-Los Angeles, will deliver three lectures on "The Incorporeal in French Phenomenology" at 6:30 p.m. in 127 East Pyne on the following dates: Monday, March 23; Wednesday, March 25; and Monday, March 30.
Kaufman is an associate professor of comparative literature and French and Francophone studies, and an affiliate in Jewish studies, at UCLA. Her other research interests include Medieval Christian philosophy, literature and philosophy of the Jewish diaspora, and modern American literature.
Kaufman's lectures are titled: "The Mineralogy of Being" (March 23), "The Botany of Inertia" (March 25) and "The Leaping of Objects" (March 30). They are sponsored by the Gauss Seminars in Criticism.
