New media director for Obama campaign to speak

"Making Change Happen: Lessons From the Obama Campaign" is the subject of a lecture by Joe Rospars, the new media director for Barack Obama's presidential campaign, to held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 16, in 104 Computer Science Building.

Rospars, a founding partner of the strategy and technology firm Blue State Digital, will talk about his experiences with the Obama campaign. He oversaw all online aspects of its communications and grassroots mobilization effort, leading a wide-ranging program that integrated design and branding, Web and video content, mass e-mail, text messaging, online advertising, organizing and fundraising. Rospars will discuss how these efforts can be applied beyond politics.

The lecture is sponsored by the Center for Information Technology Policy and the Center for the Study of Democratic Politics.
