Glee Club to perform Bach's Mass in B Minor

Saturday, April 18, 2009, 8 p.m. Richardson Auditorium, Alexander Hall

Richard Tang Yuk will conduct the Princeton University Glee Club in a performance of Johann Sebastian Bach's Mass in B Minor BWV 232 at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 18, in Richardson Auditorium, Alexander Hall.

Soloists will be Abigail Haynes-Lennox, soprano; Sarah Pelletier, soprano; Ian Howell, countertenor; Christopher Pfund, tenor; and Joshua Copeland, baritone.

"It's wonderful to see and hear young people turned onto Bach and classical music in general," Tang Yuk said. "While many members of the choir are not planning on pursuing music as a career, an experience like this instills a lifelong appreciation for the art, and they will become the arts patrons of the next generation."

The Glee Club, founded in 1874, is the oldest singing group at Princeton. The group performs a major oratorio each spring with professional soloists and orchestra. This concert honors the legacy to the Glee Club and to the University of the late professor Walter Nollner, who led the group from 1958 until he retired in 1992.

Tickets are available online through University Ticketing or by calling (609) 258-9220.
