A 5K run-walk in honor of veterans wounded in Afghanistan and Iraq will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 25, at FitzRandolph Field at the corner of FitzRandolph and Faculty roads. The "Run for the Warriors" is sponsored by the University's Army ROTC Tiger Battalion.
Registration for the race is available online. University students also may register at the Frist Campus Center from noon to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, April 20-24. Registration is $10 for military personnel and participants with a valid student ID, and $20 for others.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Hope for the Warriors, an organization dedicated to supporting wounded veterans and their families. Several wounded veterans will participate in the run and will be honored at a ceremony prior to the start of the race.
The route will go along the Delaware and Raritan Canal towpath, ending back at FitzRandolph Field. Awards will be given to the overall race winners and the top three in each age group.
The New Jersey Patriot Guard Riders also will attend the event, and musical entertainment will be provided by the Roadhouse Band.
