Theater and new media are focus of discussion

The use of new media technologies in theater is the focus of a discussion between performance studies scholar Shannon Jackson and theater director Marianne Weems at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, in McCosh 28.
The event is titled "Theater and the Politics of New Media: Shannon Jackson in Conversation With Marianne Weems."
Jackson is chair of the Department of Theater, Dance and Performance Studies at the University of California-Berkeley. Her research areas include performance theory, experimental visual art and performance, American studies, and sex, gender and race studies.
Weems is the artistic director of the Builders Association, a New York City theater company that creates original productions that blend stage performance, text, video, sound and architecture. Weems has directed all of the company's productions since its inception in 1994.
The event is sponsored by the Center for African American Studies, the Department of English and the Program in Theater and Dance.
