Poets Armitage, Hoagland to read from work

Poets Simon Armitage and Tony Hoagland will kick off this fall's Althea Ward Clark Reading Series at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, in the Stewart Film Theater, 185 Nassau St.
Armitage has written numerous poetry collections, from "Zoom!" (1989) to "The Not Dead" (2008), as well a collection of essays, a memoir and two novels. Hoagland's volumes of poetry include "Sweet Ruin" (1992), "Donkey Gospel" (1998) and "What Narcissism Means to Me" (2003).
The reading series is sponsored by the Program in Creative Writing in the Lewis Center for the Arts.
